Since the 2018-19 campaign, including this weekend's encounter, Sunday will mark the eighth edition of the October El Clasico following the Champions League group stage. When it comes to the gap between the Champions League and the league, Real Madrid has accumulated a 26-day break buffer, while Barcelona has just 23 days. This does not even account for the 2019-20 El Clasico, which was postponed due to political unrest in Catalonia stemming from the "independence process" and security concerns. The Catalan team was originally scheduled to play at 9 PM on a Wednesday against Slavia Prague, followed by a 1 PM match against Real Madrid at the Nou Camp on Saturday; Madrid, on the other hand, was set to face Galatasaray in Istanbul at 9 PM on a Tuesday.
